The company

Artemis One Health BV is a small start-up Contract Research Organization (CRO) that
belongs to the Artemis One Health Research Foundation (www.artemisonehealth.com).
It is specialized in the evaluation of viral vaccines and antiviral therapeutics. The aim of
Artemis One Health BV is to provide preclinical research service to biotech and
pharmaceutical companies that are in the very early stage of development of vaccines
and anti-virals for humans and animals. We offer laboratory services, study design and
planning, study management, client-defined and customized in vitro research, clientdefined
and customized in vivo preclinical and clinical research, data management,
biostatistics, and medical writing. We also provide scientific consultation in all areas of
virology and vaccinology, as well as support with the interpretation of the results. To
help companies accelerate the development and licensing of safe and effective vaccines,
we also offer customized immunogenicity packages. By providing extensive preclinical
immunogenicity and efficacy data integrated with artificial intelligence we enable our
customers to increase their success in exploration and development programs.

Role description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic “Innovation manager” to represent
and lead the Artemis One Health BV R&D “Innovation” unit and guide new innovation
programs from concept development, through technical feasibility, up to exit of the
innovation process and entry into the “Service” unit. The individual will plan and
execute projects in the field of vaccine and antiviral evaluations, leverage state-of-theart
technologies and solve practical problems that directly impact the Artemis One
Health BV goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will have sufficient knowledge of
and insight into assay development, immunology and microbiology. He/she will drive
the understanding of new assays, vaccine immunogenicity and efficacy, as well as
support several programs that work with leading research investigators. In addition,
they will assess external technologies against key performance criteria.


• Take on responsibility for the development of new assays that evaluate vaccine
and antiviral compounds, as well as understanding the inter-relationship
between R&D and Product Delivery. The focus is on development of the
immunogenicity package platform with one to two research projects of moderate
difficulty per year.
• Independently address the technical needs of assigned projects. The individual
exercises considerable autonomy in determining the technical path of
assignments and works in conjunction with internal scientific teams to gain
• Serve as a technical leader on relevant scientific problems, providing guidance
and technical training to other staff members. May supervise junior staff
members and/or technicians.
• Specialize in vaccine science, product development and marketing to understand
unmet segment needs and present sound technical solutions.
• Complete assigned projects in support of a project team, and communicate work
plans, data and results. Contribute to the development of scientific expertise by
devising technical reports summarizing results of laboratory experiments, test
methods, technology evaluation, and consumer results using expertise in one or
two areas of the physical sciences.
• Seek and evaluate technologies with the potential to exceed the state-of-the-art
for attributes of importance to the consumer. Details proposed activities and
drives results.
• Build and manage programs within the company and through collaborations and
partnerships in order


• Education: Ph.D. degree in either biochemistry, biology, virology, and 2-5 years of
post-doc experience. Has knowledge of assay development and implementation.
• Must possess expertise in the application of principles, theories and concepts in
the area of assay development, while a working knowledge of related disciplines
and knowledge of the vaccine industry are a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required in order
to interact with scientific experts within and external to the company.
• A track record of publications and presentations is a plus.

Other information

Furthermore, you can expect the following from us: a gross monthly salary of at least €
3.450, - and a maximum of € 4.544, - (scale 10) on the basis of a 40-hour working week;
8% holiday allowance, travel commuting costs and a good pension scheme. The contract
is for 1 year after which there may be an option for a permanent position.
